Dad is Dutchmen ..... wife Indonesian .........gave birth to 2 boys , one in Netherland , the younger one in Singapore .
Dad is PR ........ in Singapore since 1963 .
Flying between Indonesia , Holland and Singapore for business .
Now all are Singapore NRIC , the younger one complulsory National Service .
So this poor chap who has got a Dutch father and an Indonesian mother , born in Spore and serve NS , so this Ang Mor foreigner ????? Can this ang mor drive a cab ?

Pre-requiste for becoming a Taxi Driver:
- Must be at least 30 years of age.
- Possess a valid class 3/3A driving licence.
- A Singapore Citizen.
- GCE'O' Level or 'N' Level pass in English (at least an D7 grade) / Level 3 or higher pass in English (WPL-CAT)
- Have at least a one year driving experience with a clean driving record.As of 1 June 2012, TDVL holders will be allowed to extend their vocational licences up to 75 years old, subject to passing a special assessment annually.
As long as this Pre-requiste ruling never change , work permit holder can never drive a cab . Not even S-pass holder .
If u think carefully , Singapore government spent so much time and effort to lure FT into S'pore , was that to boost the taxi drviers rate ?
No lah , there is much more important priorities for them to do with S-pass holders , taxi driving will never be in their agenda .

To allow work permit holders to work as taxi drivers ?
Work permit holders is required for industries like constructions , maufacturing , hotels , customer service ....... not for taxi drivers at the moment .

Most have been sinkified so much that they talk and behave like singaporeans, probably retaining only abt 10 to 20% of their ex-country's accent
If you drive, CDG and look into their driver's portal, its not difficult to spot new citizens through their name, i can spot some filipinos even, though i have not partner one b4 ...

Correct. TDs are self employed. They need to contribute to CPF Medisave. Work Permit holders do not have CPF Medisave. Gahmen will not allow work permit holders to come here and be self employed. If they do not work or fall sick, they become a burden to the State.Only when TDs become salaried employees of taxi companies will we see WP holders. Hopefully, that day will never come.
But, I do not discount the possibility that we will one day have an Ang Mo TD; those new citizens type, especially in an economic downturn. It is already happening to the armed forces.

Strictly speaking I'm also FT, born in HKG, family migrated here when I was 4 yrs old. In my fathers generation there's 3 brothers with big families, 1 stayed in HKG, 1 went Msia n my father came here sink roots.... I hv zero HKG accent tho my elder siblings still hv some... I did NS/reservist and feel same way as most Sporeans on many issues...i.e. cannot hv too many..."easy" FT ..dilute core Sporean identity etc...too many fair weather/mercenary citizens etc...
