once you smell the alcohol on their breath, better drive fast fast.
Fast in fast out, the longer in cab, the higher the chance of giving trouble.
Bonus end of trip out of cab go bushes first to merlion.

Tactically speaking, after midnite, must interview, smell breath and see reaction, most nite shift would had make their bread and butter from 6pm to 12 or 5pm to 12. After 12 is more of profit, relax and be smart on the pax you take, the worst is from 1 to 3am, these are really drunk type or in the mid of their drunk state,
if you can drive from 3 to 6am, most would had sobered, alcohol tho exist, may have subsided, and moreover from 3 to 6am, there are also airport departure from hotels to road side, and also those early shift working class and hawkers going to work.
So if can, after 12pm, rest, then 3am drive a while and change shift.

Day shift, hot my skin get burnt, traffic smoke alot, more accidents, more jam, many funny type of paxs, from chow aunties to lan jiao FTs, no 50%..hehe.
Night shift, more or less you know the pax, either drunk or no drunk only.

i stop @ 1 on mon - wed.
thurday to sun i stop @ 3.
clubbing places i siam.
on weekend, town got many ppl nv drink 1...even till 3 can find sober people.

who say pax from airport no problem..wait till u get one AMK got more then 3hrs flight delays n landed in yr taxi(especially now global climate change everyday) ..sure find fault one.."put yr 2 hands on the stiring, if not i report u to police..."

It's best boycott certain little areas and banned certain type of people .
Call or no call .... rich or poor ...... kia wu or kia bo ...... Same strictly banned and boycott .

At 4am everyday ....... for CDG drivers , take call safer , cos anything wrong , data can protect you .
For others , strictly judge and interview your next pax .
Dun ask , dun interview , dun judge ....... u will have higher risk for more laychay problems ahead of u .

For permanent night shift ....
Pls instal a camera , best it's shoot in-cabin type .
LTA say what , we need not scared .
Cos when time and trouble come , LTA dun help us at all .
Safe guard yourself , when servicing and inspection , take out your camera .
Dun give them reasons to confiscate your camera .

For those with Security Emergency button ..... every week once , make sure button in working conditions .

Its is not about data or onboard cam can save you or not, it is a matter of safety, evidences are useless if end up having me picking you up to kong meng shan.
In safety, the key lies in proactive, not reactive or postactive, that will be later part of the story. But once you are proactive, you are ensure safe.

In Singapore we have low crime , that doesnt mean no crimes .
Help yourself , equiped yourself with tools , cameras , skills , judgement , reactions .........
Be Prepared .

Cost of Living , poor gets poorer . Rich gets richer .
Rich people dun need take cabs , they drive .
Poor people no money cannot take bus and MRT , but they can run taxi fare .
Casino , not one but 2 tentatively killed the citizens who gamble alot . Easily .
Losing of jobs .......
Losing prospect to foreigners ......
LTA , Police and Gevernment not doing enough ......
This is just a few factors that caused the society to have such problems , not just on taxi driving , all walks of life .
Social problems ? Not alot , but we can do better .
Before they do better , they have to protect ourself while on the road against those hazards .

Preparing is of course good, but preventive is lagi good, dun u think so?
A ship can explode even with the best preparation of safety.
As saying goes, prevention is better than cure. If one drunker poke one knife into your belly, that is it, you go home in a body bag, so you got cam, camera, baton or screwdriver, emergency button and all kind of equipment you can name, but can it bring back your life? and worst, if not die but handicapped, cannot fark, cannot move..how?
Therefore, this call for preventive measure, and that measure must start with taxi driver, of course the public and police can paste stickers or go into media and proclaim the rules and penalty of robbing, fighting and killing, that only can deter the culprits who are sound and smart.
But in a drunk or drugged mind, you think they care about your family, rules and penalties?
We TD are the frontier of it trade, not the taxis companies staff, operator or boss, not the LTA officer, not the dro or whatsoever, night in and night out we face the pax right on, even frontdesk reception at hotel still got people and a desk infront to protect them, what we got, is a rear mirror only, at any one time, we are at the mercy of some crazy pax or a group of them while we are alone by ourselves.
Therefore it is essential to pick up ok pax, over the years, we should have such experience to recognize a bad one from a lousy one. We should also know when to run out of the cab or when to stay put.
It is good of course to send the culprit to jail and fine him, but the issue is why waste our time, why we get the physical pain or even internal injuries?? Isn't it typically sway to meet up with such pax, therefore, preventive is a must, now you understand why nobody like to go seranggoon to pick up hindi pub ah neh or BQ bollywood ah neh??

Don't say I never drive night before, my first 3-4 years of TD life is no day, no night 1 hor........
Compare to other country, haha, compare again
, Singapore night life consider Very Good lor.......I still can remember when I went to Cape Town in South Africa, night time basically no way you will be able to walk on the street..........
Taxi are driven by the black(familiar hor, LJ la, real black la), can say 80% of them are very hardworking TD, they had to carry a pistol while plying the road every night, if sway sway kana the balance 20% TD, than good luck to you, that pistol might be using on you, so advisable stay at home or hotel or whatever you name it, whole street was full of drug addicts, gangsters, hookers, no kidding.......
Once after midnight, every now and than you will hear gun shot firing over the silent night........
