As a Newbird for the Taxi trade, my 2 years TD life, Almost every week, I heard or read some TD kena cheated, abused, attacked by passengers.
Some time I feel that TD are just like

No taxi, still got Mrt, bus and private limo
No medical staff, singapore can close shop liao.
The society work in a way of weighting each important, taxi is of course important, but there are subsitite to hold on if there is a temporary stop or strike by TD.
And as such, some are more well protected and some are not.
Moreover, medical staff are mostly employed, represented and protected by the acts, from industrial to union to medical to employment acts. Taxi driver, self employ, what acts??? only can act act abit ourselves.

actually, i think the only thing that dun protect tds is, politically will..
for example, when pax take taxi, need to show cabby i.d who in turn just key in to mdt.. only i.d as i.d alone can help police investigation..
with only this measure, no need to run fare or assault cabby.. sure kena caught 1..
in sg, who go out dun bring any form of i.d?

Let be frank here, all jobs have their hazards, this one I repeated many times, in my marine line, i see many accident and deaths, drowning and falls, in my casket lines, seen many construction death, this year, three months alone, already 11 death from both marine and construction site.
I am not saying that we are better off, but rather that we, as Taxis driver or coming into taxi driving trade, should have or had known of such hazard exist, and we still ply the road and do our business, as a marine contractor, I know going into a ship engine room or cargo hold is going to be dangerous, but I still have to go up and do the job, because that is what I choose to be for a living.
And of course we can curse and swear at the govt, police and taxis company for not providing better security for us, or that I can fark the chief engineer, the ship management for not taking care of the safety procedure after so much death. But then to what extend these farker care and take is one issue, we can only keep pressuring them.
The real issue is we, we are the front warrior facing the music, therefore, in a proactive ways, we should be more careful with better instinct (especially for those driving at nite) to identify the place and the people to take or not to take, this I believe is more critical.
In Yard, we use to identify safety hazard, like protruting metal pieces, lighters, unlicenced or not updated equipment, competency of worker handling and so on...
So perhap in Taxi driving, we should priortise our hazards,
Like
1. Pax..how do we know it is a bad pax from a general view, or that someone look like hammer, please dun take..
2. TP, LTA officers, the one that is alway a pain in the ass
3. Unsafe road
4. location of pick up
5. Pattern of journey
6. Pax state of mind
and so on.
With it, we can at least avoid some of the unpleasant situation that alway end up, TD the victim of the assault.

Taxi drivers , like Bingjames , kena whacked , but no witness , Police wash hand liao , Subordinate court also wash hand liao , Teo Ho Pin also wash hand liao ....
Bo they all eh tai chi liao ....
So culprit scott free .

As typical singapore uncles and aunties, who dun whine, moreover, whining is better than those keep dining and wineing without getting anything done.
We TD of Singapore are not whining about govt must do this and that, LTA must give us this and that, or taxi companies must provide this and that, we are typically whining that why when there is a social hiccup, TD are alway a part of the blame, a part of the change of policy and a part of unreasonable and unrationales rules create on Taxis of Singapore.
In another word, to put it simple, dun disturb us lah

Haha, they did wrong never admit,claim they kena bully. Many yrs ago, my mother just 4 hrs after major surgery. She waked up 1 hour after surgery. But 4 hours later still felt her whole body feeling numb, no feeling at all. I escalated to see the doctor....the doctor came ask us to excuse from the patient bed, pull up the curtain. About 5 mins later, heard the doctor scream in hokkien to my mother 'Mai ke ke, Li ai sai Kia eh!' Na beh, heard one Piang sound, my mum fell down on the floor. I fled n pulled away the curtain, saw the nurses were shocked there, I shouted at the doctor, the doctor refused to answer anything just walked away. I asked the nurses in loud voice, what happen! If they can't tell the reason, then I request to chane hospital immediately. 1 hour later, the nurse came back with some injection, said my mum will be ok half an hour later, as I was too fierce n nasty to her, finally, the nurse so scare n admitted that doctor prescribed wrong medicine... I rushed to the doctor room, went in n punch him jail at , n asked him go report police I would b standby with the reporters as well... The doctor finally also never report police but took 3 weeks leave!!!! -

Medical stuff are all generally public servants within the meaning of CPC. Assaulting a public a servant is a seizable offence.
General assault is not seizable, however if you are charged and found guilty in court of assaulting a cabby, you got jail.
