  PAP cheapskate la..take precious saturdays to be polling day. Should have polls on monday, then next day tues holiday.

  PAP is considerate not enough not to disrupt businesses that are operational on weekdays. You don't think so much lah.

  To you all now, anything the PAP does is wrong, anything wrong the opposition does is excuseable. That's the way I see it.

  Longer weekends... people would go shopping more... contribute to economy....

  weekend or weekday, what ever is it, the goverment should make it a point to set a fixed election date way in advance say at least 1/2 a year!! It makes so much difference for us people in terms of making plans i.e Holidays or work commitments etc! And as well, for ppl living overseas to come back to vote..cos not all polling stations are within reach!!!! Every vote counts!!

  If its a long weekend, Singaporeans will take the opportunity of a long weekend to go overseas... so theres actually lesser voters...

  if they're still the majority, they can screw sgporeans in many ways. They may come up and say that with more opposition, the future looks more uncertain and the sing dollar may go down, causing our imports to be more expensive and hence further inflation.

  They can also threaten that the freak election results will destabilise the housing market. So if you are servicing a $400,000 loan, when your HDB value drops, you end up with negative equity.

  Of course, not forgetting that they will not upgrade opposition wards. No lifts for old folks etc.

  Voters will have to balance the above with concerns like.....what about my future generation? They have to pay the sky for everything including housing? What about ministerial salaries? Are the MIW going to raise it again and again?

  To deny PAP two third majority, oppositions will have to get at least 29 seats. It will not happens soon.

  for overseas sgporeans, overseas voting is a joke la. So many sgporeans all over the world and the eligible ones are only those who reside in china, england, usa and australia. Moreover, there are only 9 voting stations in these 4 countries, so if you stay in that country but really far away from the capital, then forget it.

  I understand that countries like the Phillippines send voting ballots to their citizens all over the world.

  My gut feel, at least one more elections - and WP must secure at least 2 GRCs this time round.

  Can,  they can see a faulty policy and keep quiet about it, and they can block a good policy. And they say See See See are they better than the PAP, when things turns messy.

  Opposition is like that. anything also must be PAP is conspiracy, with selfish motives.

  I agree with ditzy and lily. SIngaporeans are ignorant and take things for granted.

  They anyhow see things, anyhow choose, its their own life they are gambling away. They can change to opposition government but in the end they will realize that their problems is due to their own problem and own laziness to face their problems.

  For us PAP supporters, as long as we can see things clearly and reasonably, we do not have to fear for election outcomes in anyway. BEcause when we can see things clearly, it will be always easier to solve our problems and we can always connect to fellow similar people.

  Today society is alot more selfish than in the past, with no compassion towards the poor and downtrodden.

  People do not always think of money when they start their career, so I have known some that just want a simple life and a small family. They do not expect handouts from the government but just working in their own chosen field, but when hordes of foreigners came and took their jobs. I don't think they are lazy but it is just that their chosen field of expertise are already destroyed because of government relentless drive for GDP growth.

  Of course, some really do not work hard and thus "fallen off", these will have to be "rehabilitated".

  I just hope for a society that will stop and examine what is really ailing this country. Can just one man defeats 900 000 foreigners? Even if that man is rich, but his homeland is gone, where is the happiness in that? His neighbourhood utterly transformed, the country running like a company, days of being retrenched by your own country, replaced by people who do not share any deep meaning of what it means to be a country.

  These are our own countrymen and women who have scarified and contributed to this country, can we find it in our hearts to have some compassion?

  Are they to be swept away and dumped in a trash can like rubbish?
