The same could be said of Desmond. Voters didn't want a split opposition vote, but he went ahead and contested anyway against the wishes of the masses. He's going to lose the election, his deposit, and much of his support base, all because of his misguided sense of bravery and innovation which disregarded the will of the people.

Votings have closed since 8 PM and counting is underway as usual. Returning Officer, Mr Yam Ah Mee is expected to announce the result after 10 PM.
