EXPENSIVE, boring, stressful. These are some of the criticisms about living in a metropolitan city like Singapore.
But preliminary findings of the Global Liveability Cities (GLC) Index ranked Singapore the 3rd most liveable city from among 64 cities surveyed.
The European cities of Geneva and Zurich came in at first and second place respectively, but Singapore was the top Asian city in terms of liveability, ahead of other cosmopolitan cities like Hong Kong, and Tokyo, Japan.
The GLC Index was measured based on the following five criteria: good governance, economic vibrancy, environmental sustainability, safety and security, and quality of life.
But how liveable is Singapore, and what are the most important factors to consider?
seriously the land size of spore is too small for a population of 4-5 million people. it is overcrowding.

build a double decker mrt lar. also make all the buses also double decker, so that you can house more passengers isnt it.
There are also several human causes of floods. Deforestation is one of the major causes of floods. Trees are being cleared fast from large areas. As result, soil is easily eroded, and the eroded soil gets settled at the bottom of rivers and seas, which raises the level of water in rivers and seas, which consequently causes floods.
Generally, floods occur more in the low-lying areas or the areas below the sea level. One of the main reasons is that rivers flow slowly in these areas. The volume of water increases in the low-lying areas. When the level of water rises in these regions, it causes floods.
Heavy rainfalls are one of the major causes of floods. The level of water in rivers or lakes rises due to heavy rainfalls. When the level of water rises above the rive banks or dams, the water starts overflowing, which causes floods. The water overflows to the areas adjoining to the rivers, lakes or dams, causing floods or deluge. The flood water causes havoc and great destruction in the areas where it flows. Floods occur more in the regions that get heavy rainfalls.
The ground can absorb rain fall at a given rate. If that rate of absorption is exceeding by the rate of rain fall, flooding occurs. Human pollution and waste can block natural and man made drainage lanes.
Flooded areas of land usually start off as very dry land. Floods are caused by heavy rains that pour to much water into rivers and other waterways. Making these natural channels unable to carry all the water. Rising water flows over or breaks the banks to the waterways causing the surrounding land to be flooded. Different causes of floods can come from masses of snow melting of tidal waves.
Flooding occurs most commonly from heavy rainfall when natural watercourses do not have the capacity to convey excess water. However, floods are not always caused by heavy rainfall. They can result from other phenomenon, particularly in coastal areas where inundation can be caused by a storm surge associated with a tropical cyclone, a tsunami or a high tide coinciding with higher than normal river levels. Dam failure, triggered for example by an earthquake, will result in flooding of the downstream area, even in dry weather conditions.
In general, the factors which influence whether a flood will occur include:
Sewer flooding may result from a system failure. Alternatively, it may happen when too much water enters the sewer system from heavy rainfall or river or highway flooding.

You will notice that wages of the citizens is critcally missing from the criteria for such assessment.......
i figure eventually singapore will be a 24 hours city.....that is to say those that work by night would not come out during the day and those that work by day would not go out by night.
In Los Angeles some folks start work at 4 or 5 A.m. and finish their 8 hours of work by 1:p.m. / 2 p.m. I think Singapore companies will need to offer certain position to have flexi hours.
singaporeans spend too long hours studying and working
but i understand they have to
cos they are not smart enough
