I'm still studying in secondary school when this happened; being delayed schooling due to WWII. So not too concern only knew that there is a curfew and we weren't allowed to go out.
The main fighting was around Arab Street and Sultan Mosque. Some buses of Singapore Tractions (green bus) were burnt.
I disagreed with wiki this:
The mob (largely consisted of Malay or Indonesian Muslims but local Chinese gangs were also reported to have joined in) moved out to attack any Europeans and even Eurasians in sight. They overturned cars and burnt them.
Local Chinese were bystanders in this event.
