nobody prepare and not available here so no popiah.

Spring Court in Chinatown selling so called authentic popiah at 6.50 or 7.50 per roll. Has prawns ...... but I doubt it is that authentic. They have it selling at the counter outside the restaurant.
The Telok Ayer popiah restaurant now relocated at jalan besar opposite swee chun dimsum. Now the ingredients are kind of different from the last time I ate. Now looks more authentic tang wa .... though i believe not all ingredients in authentic ones are in there (same goes to the one at Spring Court) . Home made ones still the best.

Speak Mandarin Campaign seems all but dead – Dialects are making a comeback

The Promote Mandarin Council was recently infused with new blood, but if the website of the Council’s Singapore’s ‘Speak Mandarin Campaign’ is any indication, the Campaign to improve Mandarin proficiency among the Chinese speaking population is all but dead.

And now, the collaboration between People’s Association (the grassroots organisation with symbiotic relationship with the ruling party) and two statutory boards (National Youth Council and National Heritage Board), to bring dialects to the heartlands, seem to indicate that the Government is moving away from the thinking that ‘it’s stupid to advocate the learning of dialects‘.
The three Government-related agencies are partnering with social enterprise My Father Tongue to kick-start another language campaign – a social campaign to revitalise the use of dialects among youths here in Singapore.
The social enterprise said on its website that dialects are important because it “form an integral part of the nation’s fabric and they help connect us with the pioneer generation and their roots, our own roots and culture as well as people from around the world who speak the same dialect”.
And that the idea for the campaign came about when they realised that many Singaporeans among the younger generation are unable to speak dialects.
So, what are you waiting for? Why not pick up a dialect?

Are you all ready for CNY ? Like not much atmosphere for it, seems more quiet than last year. With the monkey new year coming i suppose it will be more lively and noisy, it is just the opposite.

It is chinese practice to not celebrate next cny when someone passes on in the family.
Is there any chinatown where you live ? Believe any chinatown has cny stuff . . . . I was in Perth during one of the cny, there was parade and saw stilt walkers, just that theirs not eloborate celebration . The chinese food there cannot make it. Really can't imagine myself migrating to a western country with lousy chinese food.

My best Chinatown food was in Auckland, a real Amoy meal from the non resident menu. Wish they have one like that. Mostly Hakka or Cantonese here which I not so fancy.

We need more people like Dr Poh. whole sg infestated with evil leechgime doing all they can to stay in power.
The new social study for secondary school students called some singaporeans complainants to cover up the miw's dirt , and incompetence and other contents which may not be the truth or ignoring the truth. They are using education for brainwashing to their benefits.

Nea : temp may reach 40 today / tomorrow. Help ! Already fell sick b4, during and after cny due to horrible weather. Till now not fully recovered yet. a good reason to migrate is the horrible weather in sg. This is my considerstion.
