Stellenbosch is one of the areas in South Africa that produces very good Red, White and Dessert Wines in the world. It is located on the east of Cape Town and part of the Western Cape region. Because of its good terrior, it is famous for its wine varieties and can be compared with other wines from the Old World.
Terroir (French pronunciation: [tÉ›ÊwaÊ]; Spanish: terruño, pago) comes from the word "terre", English "land". It was originally a French term in wine, coffee and tea used to denote the special characteristics that geography bestowed upon particular varieties.
Some of very good wine estates are:
Muratie Wine Estate
Boschkloof
