hi! i am currently doing a project on vegetarianism for project work in school, and i would like to find out more about the habits and lifestyles of vegetarians.
i'd appreciate it very much if any vegetarians out there can help me with this short questionnaire. thanks very much!

Q1. When did you start adopting vegetarianism, and why?
Q2. How difficult was it to make the transition, and how difficult was it to stick to it? (on a scale of 0-10, 0 being no difficulty at all and 10 being very difficult)
Q3. How long do you take to prepare your food usually? If you only eat out (at hawker centres etc) do you consciously choose food that is healthier (less oil..etc)?
Q4. Do you ever have meat cravings?
Q5. Could you give an example of what your typical 3 meals would consist of?
Q6. Do you think that being a vegetarian is Singapore is difficult? Do you face difficulties in finding vegetarian dishes outside?
Q7. How do you think being a vegetarian has improved your life?
Am I too late for your project?
1) I practise vegetarianism since 1988 and became a 100% vegetarian in 1993 after I learned and understood Buddhism.
2) It is difficult if the faith is weak but if the faith is strong, it's only a natural process.
3) Being a Buddhist vegetarian, eating is only a necessity. Taste and quality is inmaterial. I eat anything that is convenient, like bread and biscuits. If I have to prepare a meal, instant noodles will be fine. When eating in hawker centre, I won't be fussy about oily or healthier food but usually more green veges.
4) During the initial practise stage, yes. After about 6 months, I don't crave anymore. In fact, after 1 year, I'll experience nausea and sometimes puke if I accidentally consume "unclean" meat stuff.
5) Breakfast - Coffee/tea with bread. Lunch - hawker centre vegetarian food, rice and veges, toufu. Dinner - home cook rice with veges and bean-soup with seaweed.
6) Vegetarian is becoming more convenient today, you find them in most hawker centres. In the 80s and early 90s, it is a little difficult to locate vegetarian food stalls.
7) I am very much healthier, I had never fall sick since 1990. Never get a chance to go on MC. I don't loose my temper compared to my younger days.
