  There are people here that will give you constructive answers - the minority. Then there are those like the few posts received so far who give you nothing but crap - the majority
  
  Can't help it, this is sgforums, look at the channels, threads and replies. you'll be better off seeking constructive answers from a bangala.
  
  Anyway, with regards to you wanting cheap japanese food - there is no such thing, you can either eat sakae sushi (there are some student promotions i think), ajisan (they aren't exactly cheap and they aren't exactly japanese), or you can go to those coldstorage, supermarkets and just pick and match your own sushi and buy all the ingredients you need to cook.

  Of the food that I eat, I found that Japanese, Korean and Western food costs a bomb (one set will be at least RM 9 and above)...
  
  Chinese food can still tahan, and so goes for Malay and Indian Food. However, as for Japanese food, I guess the ones that you can get cheaply are the ones they are selling in bulk in hypermarkets, such as Carrefour, Makro, Tesco, Giant or whatever marts you have there lor. I used to get my sushi there, it's about RM 1.00 for one packet of 6 sushis, and cost differs between RM 0.50 to RM 5.50...

  Wasabi Tei, Level 5 Far East Plaza is not bad.
  
  Not exactly "cheap" but affordable i guess. The sashimi there's really nice and fresh. I only eat unagi don and gyu don, so can't really comment on the food, but i love the above mentioned 2 here.
  
  2 set + 2 chawanmushi + 1 $8 shashimi = about $40+
  
  Its a small place for about 16 people at any one time, usually starts getting crowded at 1830hrs +. Not open on Sundays and Public Holidays.

  I like the one that serve at far east..Taka one is average nia..but cause i'm a student i mostly go to those more affordable ones..
