Lemon Thai or somthg, along Bencoolen Street (2 blks after SL Sq)...set lunch for < $10 with free flow desert.

There are currently two along purvis street. One near bras basah complex, and another nearer to beach road. Can't remember the names though, but the one nearer beach road is newer.

that one along purvis st is actualy the same rest but split into halal and non halal version.
if nt wrong is called wang yhingthai....
i tell u, its the best thai food i ever ate. everything is just right....amazingly... fr the drinks, to the pepperish olive rice, the giant prawn tung hoon, chicken wings, pomfret....n my drink was soursop with some citrus fragrance.
but of course it comes with a price - abt $40 per pax. that time i came with 4 other pple...so had the group set meal.....
if u have the money, its def v worth to try.
btw i tried was the halal version restaurant. -

After spending almost half a year in Bangkok, the only local Thai food that I feel is authenthic are those I found in Gloden Mile Complex.
There used to be a small store that sits only a few tables outside the building facing the main road (Beach rd), The cooks and service staff are Thai but the boss is local. IMO, they serve the best Tom Yam Khoong !!
There are couple more stores within the complex. They are good but not as good. Somehow I felt their taste is already localized.
Another store that's godd was in the hawker centre next to OG, Albert Complex. Also has a Thai cook .. but too bad, this store is no more there. -

Magic wok and Lemon Grass, which is better? -

I'm looking at the menu now. I duno about the serving, but from the price, I think Magic Wok is cheaper.
My family always go Magic Wok to eat. Tonight they wana eat thai food again, so I tot maybe try other restaurant lor. -
