but u need to have 'impressive' cooking skills if u wan it to be authentic
then simple recipe is enuf lohOriginally posted by nofoodwilldie:i guess so then.
but at least i've try my best!
tks heng! so hungry now already!Originally posted by HENG@:actually prawn mee is very simple. U need prawns, pork, and noodles. Noodles, u can get whatever u want, but preferably not the dried packets kind. Anything else like spring onions or eggs are to your own liking and can be considered 'optionals'
for prawns of the size in my picture, u need about 10 per person.
pork, about 150g to 200g per person. get them in a pork chop form and use a pair of kitchen scissors to cut them into slices.
boil water in a pot. Use the bowl u are serving to measure the amt of water u need. in general, for each person, fill about 1/2 to 3/4 of the bowl with water, and then pour that into the pot.
Bring it to boil, then add the prawns. Let them simmer for about 5 to 10 mins. Add the pork in after 5 mins. Add in soy sauce or salt or whatever u use to 'salt' your soups. I added fish sauce, a bit of oyster sauce, a pinch of garlic powder and white pepper into mine. I also added spring onions. Let it simmer for another 5 mins or so on medium heat, then I added the noodles. Stir the pot for 3 mins or so, and serve.
Remember to hard boil some eggs b4 hand if u want eggs in them. U can also add other vegetables to your liking. The main thing to making the soup is to get enough prawns to add them in to boil. If u get the prawns in a whole shell, add them into the soup at the start, to get a stronger prawn mee flavour into the soup

try not to put msg..Originally posted by alexkusu:hei heng, when do i put in the msg?![]()
no la. i can cook in 10 mins. dun need to fry the prawn heads. in fact i bought pre-shelled prawns. only the tail is left on, enuf to give the soup a prawn-mee flavour.Originally posted by Wanda:The actual cooking needs lots of effort and fresh ingredients, e.g. gotta pre-fry lotsa prawn heads and shells and then boil to make the soup stock.
Can try the packet pre-mix, about $2+ (think it's Hai's brand or somethg with pic of chef)...tastes quite good.
