Nestle reformulates Milo into healthier beverage to boost bo

SINGAPORE : The world's largest food maker, Nestle, says it is hoping to give healthier food choices to its consumers. And it hopes that this will in turn boost its bottom line.
Starting next year when you reach out for your tin of Milo, you will be drinking up a healthier cup.
Pushed by food bodies and consumers worldwide, food companies are trying to introduce healthier options.
And so, Nestle is reformulating one of Singapore's most popular beverages.
The new Milo will have less bad sugars and more good sugars or complex sugars which are better for the body.
"The consumer in general is getting more conscious about health and wellness. Today, Milo in Singapore has been completely reformulated to fall in line with the health promotion board thereby getting approval to use its logo," said Frits Van Djik, Nestle's executive vice-president.
Mr Van Djik has recently taken up his post as Nestle's zone director for Asia, Middle-East and Africa.
Singapore is the regional headquarters for Nestle. And Mr Van Djik says this is where the company will train its executives in a leadership course designed by the Singapore Management University and the London School of Business.
"We have decided that over the next three years, we're going to take 1,200 of our Asian managers through an extensive leadership course and all of those seminars will take place in Singapore," said Mr Van Djik.
Nestle is expecting sales in Asia, excluding Korea and Japan, to grow by as much as 10% per annum in the next five years.
