Food to avoid after operation

  I'm going for operation this coming V-Day. Heard that some food need to be avoided. May I know what are the food and the avoiding period needed ?

  I don't mean the -NIL by Mouth- prior to operation. Experienced that before with the 1L of laxatives needed.
  
  What I meant is the food that I must avoid eating after the operation. Some pass-it-down advices types.

  I won't be seeing him until the day before operation. But I don't think he will have cause such advices are more like no medical base kind of advices. I'll be posting when I'm discharged on around 25th Feb.

  Honestly I am really not too sure
  
  it is something to do with the "chemicals" within those food that might affect the healing process
  
  my surgeon told me everything also can eat, but me play it safe

  I only know seafood are considered poisonous. Usually it's more Chinese medicinal reasons. Same advice received from doctor.

  Seafood is usually avoided not because it is poisonous, but mainly because the risk of internal infection from eating it after an op is higher than other consumables.
  
  Especially if you are taking antibiotics after an op involving your kidneys, liver or intestines. (Digestive system related)
  
  The doctor should be able to properly advise you on what to avoid and what to eat. For one, i can recommend you take more liver in your diet.

  instead of thinking wat to avoid, concentrate on wat u shd be eating to help u heal and recover faster

  but got ppl say raw one better.........sashimi?

  i think raw fish will produce a great risk of parasite infections? not good for people who just had operations?

  RAW food after operation is a Big Taboo as heard from my doctor cause it risk me of bacterial infection. Well, thanks for the many advices

  you might have got it wrongly, when ppl says Sheng Yu they might have refer to huruan or snakehead, a type of fresh water fish that helps in wound healing but taking it might leave some scar operated area.

  advised doc on wat food to avoid.. they will say westen medicine anything also can eat....
  see whether u belive anot..
  
  was advised by elders not to take..
  eggs
  ducks
  chickens
  seafoods

  I just had a small op to remove wisdom tooth, take Shen Yu Jing to aid in recovery, pregnant woman also take post-delivery.

  Just discharged yesterday night at 7pm. The doctor removed part of my intestine and they cut around 15cm across my stomach. Quite a long cut and was suffering in pain for first 3 days.
  
  Nearly got held back for another day because I've profuse vomiting and intense stomach pain suddenly in the morning. Was told it's due to my stomach not adapting to the food I've eaten cause I'm on Nil by Mouth for 10 days. Condition stablised in afternoon and evening time the doctor do my discharge procedures. Now recovering at home but still can only take very small portion, similar to that of baby quantity. Even liquid intake have to be controlled.

  I asked doctor and he say everything can eat, just avoid oily food. I still prefer to stick to elder's advises to play safe.
