Sweets/Titbits/snacks for a non-singaporean to try

  Hello, My Singaporean friend is currently on a one week Spring vacation in Singapore. I've never been to Singapore, but I'm going to ask my friend to bring me some sweets/titbits/snacks/desserts for me. I want to try stuff that Singaporean. By this I mean, I don't want to eat stuff which can be found in the West, like Nestle Crunch chocolate bar or Pringles Chips.
  
  PLease know that she'll be having to travel about 5-7 hours from Singapore to the country I'm in, so I don't think she can buy anything that needs
  refrigeration.

  if he have the chance im sure he'd rather come in person.
  
  .. anyways, im not very sure either. got local sweet deserts in cans, they tastes alright for me.

  i think bak gua and bak hu got packaged one
  dunno abt the taste though
  
  dun think things like chicken rice, laksa, rojak can package......
  
  we dun relli have much of local snacks to boast of

  I thot the CNY goodies will fit the bill - pineapple tarts, dried prawn roll, white rabbit milk sweets, and crackers like papadom (they shd have there also?), calbee prawn crackers, fish crackers, also mini mooncakes from cake shops, peanut candy, soft red bean kueh, tau sar piah, green tea/soya cakes, etc.

  Definitely, pre-packed bak kwa & bak hu
  Nonya kueh but I think the coconut will turn bad after travelling...
  Cakes like kueh lapis. Pandan cake.
  Traditional chinese kuehs like soon kueh, ang koo kueh.

  My hubby's non-Singaporean. He loves pickled mango. The kind that comes in packets.

  if you leave rotiboy 2 or 3 hrs aside, it is not nice to eat already... same for curry puffs and muah chee. best if you can fly over to taste these.

  How about keropok udang (prawn crackers)? Not the pathetic salted strips from Calbee, but these roundish crackers which expand in size when you deep-fry them.
