recently i went to paragon din tai fung with my frenz, everything there was not nice... i heard its supposed to be a competitor of crystal jade.. but the food is so much much worse...
hmmm... when we ordered, items of food like la mian was served within 5 minutes. it seems to me as if it was cooked and prepared before hand.
xiao long bao supposed to be nice, but in the end turned out not so nice as crystal jade.
we tried the fried rice, la mian etc... lamian tasted like maggi mee.. nothing was matching of its 'high-class' status... which literally means cmi
when we sat down at the table, we were still waiting for a couple of our frenz... when our frenz arrived and we wanted to order, the waitress actually told us we sat down for so long and was waiting for us to order(not in a complaining tone but still sounded like complaining to me). also say that last order blah blah blah because it was near closing time i think.
we found e yam pao quite nice (the only thing that is nice there) so we wanted to order another. the waitress told last order le, we cannot order anymore. a couple behind us who just came in was having his order taken. so we told her and she didn't look very happy.
we were tucking in halfway and they said we have to pay the bill now because they're closing.
i would give din tai fung at most 5/10. its far below my expectations. i prefer crystal jade much more
any comments? people who ate there before? -

out of 4 who tried only 1 sister of mine enjoyed the meal. -

Only the fried rice with shrimps is ok. Crystal Jade is still the BEST

Hmmm..4 those interested, there is a chinese restaurant in west mall serving xiao long bao and other dishes.Nice too.Always crowded.Not too ex.

I don't like its xiao long bao...not nice at all......waste of my $$$.

Din Tai Fung is not really the competitor of CJ, right? CJ got more varieties of food...the competitor is Imperial Treasure.
Many eating places here are like that, if you eat late, they will ask you to pay the bill first even if you haven't finish eating, coz the cashier has to do the count the cash and do the closing and sign off.

Well, I'd like to say something.
I came from Shanghai, have eaten Chinese food since my birth
Actually, Crystal Jade and Ding Tai Feng are different style.
CJ serve Hong Kong style food, from Ding Sum to main courses. Hong Kong is famous for its various range of food, also great taste.
Ding Tai Feng is a Taiwanese restaurant. Their style is typical Taiwan, simple and light.
That's the difference.
Ding Tai Feng in Shanghai is full of Taiwan business people. Shanghai people are also not big of fan of Ding Tai Feng.
Comparatively, Hong Kong restaurant in Shanghai is much more popular. -

try marina square's la mian xiao long bao restaurant. its confirm to be nicer than ding tai feng

Hmmm the one at Wisma is thriving despite republic food court's presence.
Variety is admittedly small though...but the food is definitely not instant. Their kitchen is transparent-walled and you can see them cook the food.
But if anyone wants handmade la mian, try Le Chasseur at carpenter st. -
Ding Tai Feng is way overated. But the Xiao Long Bao was alright. Crystal Jade is better. As for their Dim Sum, Tea House at Chinatown Square is heaps better. Not to forget, at that price, it is definitely not value for money. I don't think i will patron Ding Tai Feng again. I just had to try.
