Hi all,
Just curious. Is the Chicken Chop an invention of Singapore?
For those of you who dunno, Chicken Chop is a type of food served at those coffee shops selling western food.
It typically comes on a large round plate; the main piece is the chicken chop itself(a large boneless piece of chicken meat), and it's accessories usually include a fried bun/toasted bread, french fries, salad and tomato beans.
My Western friends don't seem to know anything about this "Chicken Chop", although they know what is steak? I thought it originated from Western countries, since it's eaten with fork and knife?
Or maybe this chicken chop is a Singapore creation, derivated from old Colonial times?(like Char Kway Teow's origin came from China but was greatly modified in Singapore, and like Laksa originated from Malaysian food, but was modified by SGreans to become Laksa etc.)
Thanks for anyone who can clear up this mystery, as I can't find any information on Yahoo or Wikipedia.
Thanks,
Nikar.
