Sad to say, there are no truly good Japanese restaurant in Singapore. That is the opinion of every single Jap expat I met here. They all feel that Indonesia and Thailand has great Jap restaurants but Singapore is severely lacking.
Wonder how is this so..
Mind you, these Japanese expats aren't here for short stint. Some of them have been here for the past 7 years. -

honestly i tot the food at Waraku starhub centre is better than MS's.

for those who can eat many sushi >20 pieces, Do not eat at those conveyor restaurant...
eat in international building where sushi is hand press by a real jap chef.
unlimited buffet style at the bar counter !
Lunch is abt $30...which can work out to be $1 each for a hand press and really result salmon, yellow tail, scallop etc -
Kuishinbo's buffet is pretty good - wide spread though mebbe a bit ex
I like Sakae Sushi too. -

i think there are quite a few jap restaurant at cuppage plaza
although i have yet to tried any of them..
one stall that i heard people rave about is ohsumi i think -
Try Hanabi at oden or king's arcade.
Sun at Chijmes
Botan at Club Street... my favourite 3 jap restaurants. -
watever u choose....dun choose AJISEN DINING
i have terrible experience there. they try to change the look from the previous parco branch but i think still same.
