very expensive indeedOriginally posted by chiabaliao:The Punggol nasi lemak is way over rated. I once ate at the old Punggol nasi lemak at Brighton Crescent. The most expensive lasi lemak I have ever eaten.
Yup, really miss those at the Owen Road. Remember they have 3 shops there selling teochew porridge. Used to go there to "ta pao" the dishes if mum not cooking. Anybody know where they move to? Their chai buay is the best.Originally posted by DummiesInc:Owen road used to have a lot of good teochew porridge. I personally find the one at Joo Chiat not bad. Those along Upper Serangoon Rd aren't very good. I've tried all of the stalls there including those near my house along YCK road. Normal only.![]()
heard from my familymembers who know them, non of them exists now. but the teochew porridge stall's boss son is working in other teochew porridge stall. I luv the meat fishball and kiam chai buay. Best in Singapore!Originally posted by wanker10:Yup, really miss those at the Owen Road. Remember they have 3 shops there selling teochew porridge. Eating teochew muay helps me to appreciate the simple foods in life. Take the humble cucumber, for example, hawkers just dump it onto the plate as an extra, but an experience I had when I tried a dish of cooked cucumber at a teochew muay stall in Upper Serangoon gave me a totally different opinion of this vege. I like teochew muay with that light pleasant taste. Another favourite dish of mine is the small silvery fish eaten with a squeeze of lime. Heavenly! yeah, i love it too!!! thank goodness i still can eat it in the hawker centre. i love kiam chai buay, tau pok, bak eeei, steam fish, salted egg, yumi yumi, and the porridge is beautiful!!! prefer teochew and cantonese food to hokkien food.Originally posted by chiabaliao:Eating teochew muay helps me to appreciate the simple foods in life.
