suggestion for a place for good japanese food?

Hi ppl out there...thinking of going out for jap food tmr but can't think of a good place. Would like suggestions on where to go for good tempura / japanese ramen/shabu-shabu cause nt a real big fan of sashimi...anyone can help? Thanks in advance!
p.s anyone heard of nagae at waterfront plaza? any good?
