The following are a list of recommendations so far. Please feel free to add on:
1. Q Meeting Place - Blk 94 Henderson Road (zi Char)
2. Chin Chin - Purvis St (Chicken Rice and Zi Char)

Let me add one:
The small foodcourt beside Funan Centre facing the Central Fire Station. Nice Kway Chap. Only 3 dollars a plate. Weekend usually crowded with foreign visitors/workers. -
