from Central Spore:
Envisioning steaming towers of luscious pancakes and creamy crepes, we were not disappointed when we stepped into the cafe's cosy interiors and caught the first whiff of the delicacies that owner/chef Winston Lee had prepared for us.
Tucked into a nondescript location in Goldhill Centre, The Batter Place is an establishment that has been whipping up its famous crepes since the 1970s in Holland Village. Its offerings had been savoured by celebrities like Fann Wong and David Gan, and it is with eager trepidation that we await our meal.
Starting off with the Hawaiian Turkey Ham Steak ($6.50), we were treated to a succulent ham and pineapple topped crepe that when paired with their propriety honey-butter instantly topped our 'Sinfully Divine' weekly top ten list. Another favourite was the Roti Jala ($6.50) which was composed of a paper-thin lacy pancake served with a generous portion of piping hot Indian curry. Their dessert selection is lovely, with the strawberry banana pancakes ($5.50/$4.80), one topped with a scoop of strawberry ice-cream and the other, pan-fried banana-stuffed and served with a warm coconut-based sauce, both pack quite a wallop.
No service charges and with value prices to boot, The Batter Place will make quite the divine and economical restaurant for that next date.
