I think the key is knowledge.
In the past, we all gong gong got slaughtered. But now, we have some basis.
Now, it is made known, perhaps the catcher or supplier may want to use less ropes. Perhaps they under illusion that there are bulls or oxens..
Yes, we singaporean complain cause we want to get the most money value.
cause frankly, it is not easy to earn money leh.
Now, we are highlighting about the external factors.
For me, sometimes, I do prefer to get the durians after they are "de-shelled". Cause I can't accept that they weight the durians with the shell and charge me when what I can eat minus the seed is like 1/10 the weight.
But that's just me.
As for Alaskan crabs, if you really eat it outside singapore, you will realise they only go after the legs, even forgoing the claws.
Back to topic, the fact is that 400gm crab, 350gm string, but you pay for 750gm. Okie for you? If okie, fine go ahead. Your choice.. I respect that.
For me, I may order cause it is my wife's favourite, but I may just cast a closer look at the strings when they show me the crab.
Which leds to another thing, how you know the crab you choose is the one you eat...
