Okay, heard from friends that the murtabak at zam zam is very good, so decided to try when i was walking around haji lane. Don't know if there are other Zam Zam outlets around Singapore though.
Anyway, the place is like nothing different from your normal indian/muslim foodstall, or coffeeshop for that manner. Quite hot, lucky there are sufficient wall fans to keep things from getting to0 humid. Quick service, the guy cleared our table in one go (there must have been around 10 big plates left by the previous diners) and took our order at the same time. Ordered a normal sized murtabak ($5) and green tea. Less than a minute later the guy arrived with a big saucer of curry and a plate of, erm, appetisers? Cucumber slices with ketchup. 5 minutes later, just awhile after i and my gf finished the cucumber, the murtabak came.
This is the funny part. Normal murtabak is served in a nice square, right? This one came....erm i also dont know how to described. It was all shredded, torn, tossed about like a salad. I think the chef fluffed it with his hands like how they fluff prata. Anyway the plus side to this is it was easier to eat! The murtabak was crispy, the onions were crunchy, and the chicken was delicious. Well marinated and tender. And the serving is generous. They totally don't scrimp on the chicken meat. And drink something like tea or similar to cleanse the palate as the murtabak is abit oily lah.
Oh well that's about it. Thanks for taking the time to read.
