Chomp Chomp Che jian fried hokkien mee

  Last night, I tried the Che Jian fried hokkien mee at Chomp Chomp, stall #11 for the second time. This time, I ta pao, and was pleasantly surprised that it was wrapped in opei leaf, for just $3 dollars total! Opened the packet 10 minutes later, and after tasting it, I'm convinced it's pretty good. The moistness is perfect, the texture and color just right (only thin beehoon is used, much more flavourful) and the taste is rich and well balanced. Well, it makes up for the disappointment of losing my all time favourite Ah Huat there when the old man retired. The young man who took over the stall was such a disappointment.

  woah.other ppl use opei leaves charge even more.

  Other stalls at least 5 dollars to wrap in opei leaf. Maybe this stall is trying to do some kind of promotion. But no question at all, fried hokkien mee tastes nicer fully wrapped in opei leaf for at least 10 minutes.
