Long time ago, I went with my friend to this restaurant at the top floor of a old hotel (Kum Leng Hotel) at Jalan Besar. It is no longer there.
There I jokingly said to my friend I would like Peking Duck.
Lo and behold, they have Peking Duck!
We ordered that, and the captain said not to order any more dishes as there were only two of us. We can order more later if we are not full. We ordered beer for drinks.
The first plate came with the crispy skin and roasted meat. It came with folded pao (the kong bak pao type). And Letuce and some garnishing, and the dark sauce.
The next plate that came was bean sprouts (tau gay) with duck meat.
The last was the soup, with the duck bones and salted vegetables, and whatever that are in soups.
The captain was right. We need not order any more food.
Since then I can't find a Peking Duck dish like that.
I always get rip-offs like the roasted duck skin/meat with pohpiah skin/flat pao. The trimmed-down versions.
Anyone know where they still have the full Peking Duck dish?
