Halfway through her breakfast, STOMPer Belinda found a rusty screw in her packet of nasi lemak from a Toast Box outlet in Bugis Junction.
In an email to STOMP, she said she went there for breakfast at about 9am on Dec 25.
"I ordered nasi lemak, and halfway through eating, among all things that I have to see is a rusty screw! The rice around the screw is tainted brown as well," she said.
The STOMPer showed it to the staff at the counter and was taken aback by the response.
"One of them only smiled at me and denied everything and says it's the problem with the supplier," she said.
"She gave me a new packet of nasi lemak, but who would want to eat that nasi lemak?
"She said again that the screw is not their problem, and told me to check the rice again before eating.
"How to eat in peace? Eventually, she offered a refund," she said.
If i'm not wrong, under contract law, toastbox have an "implied responsibility" on the customer to serve reasonably safe food. So even if the nasi lemak is not prepared by them, but by some outsourced supplier, toastbox too have a share of responsibility.Originally posted by mortified:you're belinda?

I think if in US, sure go court...
The way the staff handled could be improved. I tink sg's problem with rude retailers is that the staff dun feel for the customers, hence creating an even bigger problem. But I am surprise the staff did not notify the supervisor, whom should had come out personally to offer refunds and apologises on behalf of toastbox.
i just felt that it really suck that such things happened, keep us posted if NEA contact you ok?Originally posted by xlinngx:yea. why?~

wah..you're really magnanimous, maybe because i'm really particular that no foreign objects should be found in my food, i might sue them if its in my case.Originally posted by xlinngx:yea. they called me up liao. decided to drop the case.
