I was having supper at Lao Pa Sa ... We suddenly came to this indian store which says you can pay as much as you want .... we trust you . .
Out of curiousity , we just seat there and observe . It turn out to be true !!!!!
The people just order . After that they just pay as much as they like for the food ....
Quite a number of foreign manual workers went to that stall to buy and food and seat around to eat. After eating , most of them pay a token sum .
What a STRANGE business idea ! Isn't it against the basic business and economic principal .....
wah next time i also wan to go there
The whole forum should go there ... My treat !! .. haha ...
there is another such concept restaurant in the basement of chinatown point.
the workers there are all volunteers and the raw materials are usually donated by some companies.
the ambience is really good, decor is beautiful but since its a indian vegetarian restaurant, you wont eat meat there.
the monies collected are used to donate to charities and maybe just pay some bills.
the food safe to consume anot?
food good quality anot?

Your treat ah? In the end after everyone eat you just pay 10 cents haha.
Its not related to economic or business ideals, but its related to religious teachings that tells people to be generous and charitable to others.
It is common in India, to give food to even strangers during important family celebration.
besides, most cultures in asian involves giving food.
look at some chinese temples in singapore, they provide free vegetarian food.
the muslims give out muttons meat on the hari raya eve. (correct me if my memory of such giving is wrong.)
even the thais, they always give food to monks.
its rare for monks in sg to ask for alms, but i've seen hawker pack foods and give to monks and rushing back to their stalls to cntinue selling, in Singapore.

The restaurant name is called Annalakshimi. They used to be located at Excelsior Hotel. But have since shifted to basement of chinatown point. They are basically a charity and not a buisness. =D

Its embraressing that you should be the one mentioning about proper accounting.
If you are referring to hawker stalls doing it. You obviously didnt know enough about hawkers accounting.
If you are referring to the restaurant doing it. You obviously never learnt SG accounting.

It's an act of good faith towards everyone in the world.
The seller and his wife are both admirable and religious people and their store is quite popular.
Their food are delicious too.
There are some religious people in this world that still value the practice of good faith and love toward others in the society.
always salute these kind of charities...
how nice is it compared to outside food joints.
I did not eat it myself as I was totally full at that time .
Its located at one of the outer rims. Not the side of the satay stall.
hope stooky no come in and say yay free food

Thats true .... Otherwise I will not be putting it as a question .
Then again I know some good people who ask questions when they already know the answers for the benefits of others who do not know enough to ask the correct questions. Too bad as this question is not such .
if i am not wrong, i think its vegetratrian food. Used to have one at the science hub, biopolis..long time ago..
most pp will be too embrassed to "donate" too little, so they probably give like $3 or more..

???
So how do they do accounting then . Do you know then ....
The mod shifted the topic to here ... hmm...
Such food stalls are rare...therefore, when eating at such food stall, pay the amount that other stalls charge...that should keep them going to do good for those really who cannot afford much for food
In India, the poor line up outside restaurants to eat leftovers by customers.....we are lucky enough to be singaporeans..dont have to be like them
