Why do I have strange feeling that Kuali Baba is in the Peranakan food business?
More like the Peranakan food-eating business. ![]()

The flour is soft, and like good ondeh-ondeh the gula melaka bursts out if you're not careful.
IVIN's is okay...but they use MSG generously. You can also try Kim Choo, Blue Ginger, Novena Ville, Pan Pac Hotel Orchard and Swissotel Merchant Court. Still, you'll never get as generous a serving of buah keluak (the nuts) as you will at our family gatherings.
Those in bold I think for the same price at IVIN's you will be lucky if you get half the amount of food. Yah, I sorta agree that IVIN's use relatively a lot of MSG, don't eat it too often.
Oh and yah I agree, the oneh-oneh at Maxwell kicks ass. Too bad its in the ERP zone, so cannot go often. Personally do not like the principle behind paying ERP lah...

No disrespect but personally I feel Chilli Padi is overrated. Went there twice, wasn't impressed. Quite pricey also. Just personal opinion lah.
Kim Choo's Kitchen...
109-111 east coast road...
Straits Chinese...near Bugis at Queen Street...
They have Nyonya tok panjang buffet.......eat the buah keluak until shiok shiok ![]()
Anybody for Straits Chinese at UIC Building? The buffet lunch is below $20. I was recommended this restaurant, was told food is nice.
