Just wondering... do we have to wash the tempeh before we fry it?
What other things are we supposed to do with it after we buy it direct from supermarket huh?
I love to eat tempeh - but first time I trying to cook it at home :D
What's that?

Tempeh is fermented beans, usually eaten fried or with curry. Almost a malay staple. i think washing lightly and seasoning lightly would do the trick. tempeh is like tofu, no taste, so remember to use sauce or salt.
Actually................tempeh do have taste.
It taste a bit salty on its own. Especially if you deep fried it in those traditional peanut cooking oil.
ya it has a light nutty taste...
woo while I was here trying to figure out how to cook it... the hubby has already fried it liao
VK - how about your recipe book - does it offer any good baked/grilled tempeh recipes?
I read online that need to steam the tempeh before baking. But that is so tedious.

Errrm....the book I read is mostly dealing with how Tempeh is made and cooked by Indonesian.
They dont do lots of baked/grilled stuffs.
And I only like their stir fry stuffs ala those Nasi Padang stalls.
IMO, tempeh is an underrated food.
I agree.
I strongly agree.
i love tempeh.
my folks' maid slices the stuff very thinly and then put it in the grill..
the stuff becomes tempeh chips.. very very addictive

don't be mad... this time, soy is good.. because the fermentation destroys the phyto-estrogen.. what you have left is very low fat, very high protein and very yummy

just eat stuff that gives you more tadpoles
so that whatever is killed by the soy won't trouble you too much
anyway... what's a few thousand killed by soy when we are talking about MILLIONS?!

anything that's REMOTELY soy-related is "cancer" to fatum
actually come to think of it... talking abt Soy VS Tadpoles.
As you know.. we are the 'winners' in the tadpole race.
By eliminating the number of weak tadpoles (that are killed by soy)
what you are doing is eliminating the competition
so the winning tadpoles have a clearer runway!

your analogy sounds like this to me: gunning down the enemy is less effective than hand-to-arm combat. by this guns = smoking; hand-to-arm = soy.
you've got your logic wrong. smoking is far more detrimental.
