Sweet Indulgence At The Marmalade Pantry?

Met up with an ex-classmate with the intention of a sweet indulgence @ The Marmalade Pantry but food turned out to be a disappointment especially the dessert, which was supposed to be their house special.However, the afternoon delight was a pleasant one which I’ve enjoyed because of my companion, Jen. Conversation with her has always been engaging since school days as she’s witty & humorous. It was never a dull moment with Jen.While waiting for our food, Jen presented me with an endearing gift – 2 lovely fridge magnets hand-made by her. What caught me by surprise was the customized hand-painted “I have a black belt in shopping” magnet of my avatar, which was bestowed upon me by another friend. Don’t you think the magnets are simply adorable? This thoughtful gesture has brought us closer to another step of what friendship really meant.
Back to the food……
Soup of the Day @ S$10 was Cream of Mixed Mushroom which turned out to be the highlight of the day. The soup came in a portion enough for two & I like the combination of the mushrooms blended to make this rich & scented soup.
The Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Crispy Kurobuta Pork Belly & Chilli @ S$22 was just so-so. No difference from having the regular 烧肉(roast pork) you find outside. I like my pasta Al Dente but the spaghetti was under-cooked & pork wasn't crispy as stated. 
Sticky Date Toffee Pudding With Vanilla Bean Ice Cream @ S$12. Specially recommended by the server as most popular & a house special. The pudding was terribly sweet & both of us ended up just eating the Ice Cream. 
If you wanna be seen & heard, Marmalade Pantry is perfect. The place was like a “chatterbox” & it was packed with Caucasians as well as fashionists. I spotted quite a few trendsetters who dressed to kill on top of the thick layer of paint on their faces. Other than the personalized service & friendly staff, I think the much talk-about café is over-rated. Rating: 2/5
