Dun like pepper type.
Pepper type is shiok shiok, just a sip the wrong way, and whoa hell to pay.
Still dun like the peppery type.

If I am not wrong, the teochew style rou gu cha is peppery. If you don't like it,stick to eating the Hokkien style rou gu cha.
To me a little pepper is ok, if it is too much pepper I will not eat.

Yup never like the peppery type, some just too watery, some too peppery, too bland most of the time. To me this is not the ba kut teh I grow up with. See these type popping out only at the late 1960s.

Correct me if I am wrong. Think the original ru gu cha is the brown soup type prepared with herbs, eat with you tiao and chinese tea. Though I am not a pork lover, I prefer this type.

The origin of ba kut teh is from Chuanchiu, not so herbal but a mixed of spices. The Klang-KL version is the Kinmen type with lots of chinese herb and less spice. The original type is lost, the last surviving one at Maxwell also no more few years back.
I have not taken ba kut teh since outside. I eat only self cooked one with the Chuanchiu recipe.
pepper!

A few leong kee bak gu teh stalls popping out. I like the one used to be at Geylang but moved out due to increase of rental by the owner. I saw one at Beach Road and another one is Jalan Besar but i tasted all of them, the soup is still not as good as the one used to be at Geylang.

Then why is it always crowded? If I really liked the food somewhere, I would keep quiet, lest it be swamped.
Hence in forums, I usually state the 2nd best saying its the bestest of the bestest.
