Hello everyone,
My name is René and I'm a journalist from the Netherlands. I planned a trip to Singapore from november 9 till november 12. I'll be in Singapore to enjoy the city, and to write an article for the Travel Pages from a the national newspaper. In this article, I want to cover the best meal by each ethnic Quarter of Singapore.
That will be, as far as I'm know: Chinatown, Arab Quarter, Little India and Geylang Serai (according to http://www.visitsingapore.com this is cultural heart of the Malay community in Singapore. I'm not completely sure about this. Please let me know if I'm wrong).
I want to cover 4, may be 5, meals which are linked to the neighbourhood (so the best Chinese meal in Chinatown, a perfect Indian meal in Little India etc...)
Planning to eat the best possible district meal in each neighbourhood/area, I'm wondering where to go. And that's why I was hoping for the help of you all, with these 2 questions:
- Which 'district'meals should I order in Singapore's neighbourhoods to make a great article?
- And where, in each Neighbourhood, should I do this?
I'm not looking for expensive, fancy restaurants. Small, local food stalls are perfect for my story. Although, the most important is the fact that the meal is good and linked to the district.
I hope to hear from you. Thank's for reading and please post your suggestions.
Best wishes,
René van der Meer

Chinese Food: White chicken rice / Ba Ku teh
Malay Food: Mee Goreng / nasi lemak
Indian Food: Roti Prata / chicken tikka
All these are common food. But they are no doubt good food under the right chef. As to where to find the best in SG, I will have to leave it to the food hunting experts.
