The year is 1994 - it's 9.30am and the bell's rung for recess. You dutifully head for the canteen to grab a bite.
With your $2 daily allowance in your pocket, you know you can afford to eat like a King (a somewhat....thrifty King). And yet, you head straight for the chicken rice stall, where you spend a mere 50c on a plate to fill your stomach. You know that there are far better ways to spend $2 than to blow it all on staples. You don't even buy that Kickapoo that you really want. The water cooler will have to do.
Chicken rice accounted for, you zero in on the reason for recess - the snack stall. clutching your $1.50 tightly in your hands, you take in the sights before you. Thanks to your immaculate financial planning, you know you're spoilt for choice.
The Mamee monster beckons at you, and for 20c a pop, why not? Who gives a damn about MSG anyway? Or maybe you'll give yourself a treat today, and blow 50c on a box of Ding Dang. After all, you really could use a new toy, and you kinda liked the one you got the previous time - you know, the one where you blow into a whistle-like thing and a plastic ball at the end floats in the air? Truly awesome.
Oh, but to the left of the Ding Dang you spot boxes of Tora - quite the same as Ding Dang, yet costing 80c. You never could figure out the reason why, but you buy it sometimes anyway. You figure, since it costs 30c more, it probably tastes 30c better! Cognitive disso-what?
It isn't difficult to miss the ubiquitous orange packets of Bee Bee. Surely a gift from the gods, at only 10c. You know you can easily polish off 15 at a go, so $1.50 suddenly doesn't look like so much money anymore...
In the end you choose a diversified portfolio, and make off with a packet of Mamee, some Ding Dang and 5 packets of Bee Bee. And what the heck, it's suck a hot day so you just grab one of those 20c ice popsicles that you'll share with your best friend. With your last 10c, you decide to get 3 Hacks sweets, just to get you through the next class. Looks like the Ring Pop/Push Pop that you really wanted will have to wait...
Fast forward to today, and you're looking for a snack. All you can find is whatever's on the shelves of your neighbourhood 7-11. Everything tastes the same - it's always chicken or BBQ flavoured. There simply isn't the variety you're used to. You look to the skies and wonder where on earth the snacks that you lived on as a child have gone...

Miss a lot of these stuffs.
To those interested, they take some of these stuffs out of schools because they were deemed unhealthy food.
Guess you can't talk moderation to kids.![]()
They dun do these type of snack anymore is because they want to tell you that you are old already. And most are melamine tainted. Try JCO donuts or Obama burger ya
