Hi guys, I'm looking for Surströmming which is a Swedish delicacy. It is herring preserved in brine, and its invention dates back to the days when sailors on long voyages prevented food from rotting when the refrigerator was yet invented.
Surstromming makes smelly bean curd smell like shampoo. It is sold in cans which have not been vacuumed, and by the time they are on shelves, the tin cans are usually bulging. They are best eaten with bland starchy foods, and the custom is to eat them within a Swedish flatbreadrolled up together with onion and boiled potato.
Does anybody know where I can get Surströmming?
Anything Swedish short of ABBA, you can find in IKEA.
I was abt to say Ikea too...
