If you notice at wedding dinners in singapore, this is a common practice. Even happens widespread in China but in other countries, this could be different. Was at an indonesian chinese wedding with a few singapore colleagues. They dipped their chopsticks into the food on the lazy susan and the other indonesians did not touch that dish anymore. LOL.
whats wrong????contaminated????radioactive diner??wad>?
each dish will come with a spoon or ladle so u can scoop the portion u want into ur own plate/bowl
if u go banquets at more atas restorans or hotels. the server will distribute the food to each diner
no matter where I'm dining at, I'll never use my own utensils to scoop the food which is shared among others..
u will not see these ppl having steamboats.
I use hands.
some things use hand taste better leh.
if serving spoon or tongs provided, they must be damn blur.
its common in mainland china, but its not acceptable in hong kong.
in hong kong, must use common serving spoon/chopsticks... unless very close friends/family...
Not so, in orientel concept, sharing foods with same utensils is a culture of family and belonging. It is to further enhance togetherness, be it brotherhood, sisterhood or robinhood, it bring about the trust the strength of friendship bond within the table, but in today modern times, where so much virus had been known and also people gained so much knowledge that most become hygience freak, such culture is losing it tradiiton.
