Here's my review and opinions, let's go 1 round and start from chicken rice stall:
chicken rice stall = when hougang pt first opened in 1998, it is very good. In recent years, the chicken and rice tasted stale and overnight.
duck rice stall = it was only average in the past. A few years back, I actually bought and tasted stale and bitter duck meat from them. Ever since then, I boycotted them totally and have not bought from them for years
western stall = was really good. In recent years, standards dropped. Now chicken chop is pre-cooked. rice and fries tasted stale and hard. mushroom soup tasted stale also.
fried rice, fried kway tiao = from past till now, ok only. Not exceptionally good but not bad.
porridge stall = ok only
zi char = previous vendor's egg is pre-cooked and always tasted stale. Only their meat is freshly cooked but still average only. Current vendor, I don't dare to try...
mixed veg rice = used to be quite good but in recent years, standards really dropped.
boiled noodles stall = average only. Recently, they become stingy on ingredients like give smaller prawns, fewer tau pok when ordering laska/prawn noodles.
hot metal plate stall = Was really good. In recent years, they pre-cooked their meat and it tasted stale and overnight. Their noodles is never good. Tasted like plastic.
economic bee hoon stall = looks stale and overnight, don't dare to try
fish porridge stall = don't look nice to me
VERDICT: Not worth eating unless got famine. During lunch time, I always make the effort to go Sheng Siong/North Star for better food.
And: The new indian stall (replacing really horrible braised duck & pork stall) I don't dare to try. Anyone want to tell me nice or not?
In my lifetime, I've only been there like 2 times. That place makes kovan heartland mall seem like vivocity.
Sadly to say that everywhere has this problem, food is getting more expensive, the portion is getting smaller and food is getting tasteless.
Blame the fierce bidding of food courts, coffee shops, etc. Drive up the food price and chased away good food providers.

to a new and lower worse, that is.
I just bought from the mixed veg stall to give them another chance - I regret it! In their veggie, I bit and found got grains of sand 3 times! End up, I threw away the whole packet!
From now onwards, I totally boycott the food court and just eat from KFC and mac.
Sand in vege is big turn off but but why.....you still give them chance lol.

Think you meant from worse to worst.
The old folks are going, taken over by the younger generation, who just don't put in the effort to create the omp in their food.
Yes things are getting pricer, and lousyer, and self service some more.
Hate queuing up for drinks.
Gone are the days of dingy tables and rickety chairs and excellent coffee or tea brought to you cheaply.

So you're also boycotting food court in hougang pt?
Far from my place
Any food court, I will circle and circle and check out ALL the food stalls and try to determine which one offer quality food.
