DEHP in bubble tea ingredients

  SINGAPORE: The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) is extending checks for the industrial plasticiser DEHP in bubble tea ingredients.   This comes as the Taiwan food scare involving DEHP, which can affect the hormone balance in young people, continues.   AVA is also checking fruit jams, jellies and juices manufactured in Taiwan for DEHP.   Some bubble tea retailers say they have sent eight to nine ingredients to AVA for checks, though they only need to send in two to three.   And they did this, they say, despite having their ingredients checked in Taiwan earlier.   Maria Goh, operation manager of bubble tea retailer "Come Buy", said: "We have about 150 stalls worldwide...eight countries have our bubble tea stalls. So we (want to) make sure that (customers) everywhere, like Japan, Hong Kong, Macau and Shanghai, they drink it with confidence."   - CNA/ir    31 May 2011 2152 hrs (GMT + 8hrs)

   

  Would you still patronize the bubble tea in Singapore?

  this is ridiculous

  DEHP is meant to soften "rigid" plastics like PVC

  and DEHP is not meant for food

  i have yet to find out if Gong Cha is cleared, it is from Taiwan.    The Alishan flavoured ice milk tea has great great taste, smell so very the good.

  DEHP is also used in the manufacture of most the plastic medical devices, specifically PVC

  KOI is super overhype and overrated. Tried 3 times with 50%, 75% & 100% sweetness and most of the time is either too sweet or not sweet at all.

  So far my wife and I like gong cha ...

  My first and last time I tried KOI, oh goodness, it's suppose to be ice milk tea but the taste is milky and very diluted.   I totally gave them up after the first time.    

  Same here,  I like gong cha, best!

  luckily i never liked bubble tea. still prefer good old yakun kopi.
