Hi, I'm currently looking for classes that teach how to make macarons.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaron
They're like French cookies, a top and a base made of almond, and a paste filling in the middle, a flavored ganiche. Like an Oreo cookie, but softer and so delicious.
Many places sell it. Bakerzin, a few bakeries in Scotts Road, most pastry shops... but I want to know how to make my own, with unique flavors that I can create.
Any one have any ideas?
You can go Google on tips and tricks too... I'm supposing it's almost as good as attending classes. You can learn how to make/bake them, how to avoid the common pitfalls, but many home-bakers still fail several times before finally managing to come up with something that resembles a macaron. My friend failed 7 times before she finally managed to get the feet up on her macarons. And her macarons were still pretty ugly. ![]()
The only place I know that might hold such classes is Shermay's Cooking School. Oh, wait! Look! Their macaron classes are up again! You lucky pig! ![]()
Haha but those are a bit too expensive!!
I found one though.
It's hosted by a pastry chef who's quite well known after i did a google search. He appeared on 8 Days and Sunday Times too...
PM me? :p
I think newbies are not allowed to post links.
you can learn it from youtube i think. There are many videos for recipes out there. it's better than reading steps, and a lot cheaper than paying someone to show you how (well, its free!).
