Hello everyone^^
Who here thinks we should replace service charges with tipping?((:
Tipping was replaced by service charge ages ago.
tipping does not work in SG.
F&B outlets will just add their "tip" into the prices of the food items.
same same.
sorry 4 the sua-ku question, but do the service charges go to the employees, or into the day's earnings anyway?
Service charge should be for the employee's benefit, like incentives, training, bonus, rewards, etc. but sad to say, it goes in as earnings.
I wonder is the SC part of the earnings are tax-free?
If it is, then it is not only the employees are cheated benefits, it is the country that is also cheated of revenue.
SIngapore does not practice tipping because singaporeans are stingy. They are always looking for their money's worth, you think they'll tip? ha ha ha
i dunno the rational behind the offical change from tipping system to service charge, but would a tipping system (which actually goes to the employees) encourage better provision of customer service?
i think many sgp'ns are now more likely to tip compared to earlier days?
No tipping rule applied across the board was to stem corruption.
Where tipping ends and bribe begins, would be hard to tell.
No seat at the restaurant, 20 bucks and you are lucky, Sir, someone just cancelled their reservation.
yeah, fair enough.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen or that it's still not attractive to some, but wasn't those practices more common in the past compared to today's Sgp?
i just think forcing people to 'tip' is not great. Especially if the 'tip' doesn't end up to the waiters anyway. If the service was bad, then the 'tip' isn't justified.

what do u mean FI?
not replying to u
tipping is not a good idea, as I have seen in TV shows. Foolish labourers will seek higher compensation from their customers instead of their employers.
