SINGAPORE: From June, consumers will be able get more information on hygiene lapses at food outlets off the National Environment Agency's website.
This will help consumers make informed choices based on food cleanliness when dining out.
From poor hygiene standards to food poisoning incidents, such lapses mean a downgrade of the food stall's hygiene grading.
And soon, this revision will be made known online and the grade of the stall will be reviewed after three months.
Consumers can also go online to see how many demerit points have been accumulated by food operators.
But some had reservations about this initiative.
"I think the government should do something more, like maybe putting it out in the newspaper," said a woman.
Another
man said: "Websites and stuff like this are good for the new younger
generation. You don't expect the older generation to know how to use
them."

That's good news !
Fuckin good news.
Now what we need are a way to report all the rats-on-food cases on Stomp to NEA.
That's a very good thing!
Instead of spending money on these, use it to subsidize hawker rentals.
