For those had not heard of it, the basement foodcourt in the Northpoint Shopping centre had "shifted" and currently it is taken over by Kopitiam which is quite sad
.
The old basement food court used to be the favourite gathering during my school time and I remember the Japanese food 's fish and the prawn rice bowl is the best following by the pineapple rice stall
. Anyone especially those who lived in yishun know where they shifted ? ![]()
Outside Yishun MRT, there is a foodcourt, don't know whether that is the one.
the western food at the far corner was good.
i remebered the basement food court!i was always there everyday after work.remebered when they started building the northpoint shopping centre, it was just a plot of land.i was impressed with the shopping centre and even more impressed with the food court.the kavins curry restaurant at corner next to the snack shop was my favourite.....it was ok and very good food back till 1997 .after that it must have been sold off to new owners who couldnt cook as good as the original owner when it was first built.damn good banna leaf curry.i would usually be sitting at the angled corner to right hand side of indian food stall 5 metres away.with my back facing the world.
then second fav would be the kuay chap stall way at the back serving pig throtters too.u can see me eating there too in the past!u too can see me eating pig throtters at the back of the food court with my back facing the world.
then there was the malay food stall next to chicken rice stall next to escalator.
then lastly the small kfc outlet next to the malay food stall.
I think North Point is one of the better malls in Singapore. The variety of shops and restaurants not bad. Space is quite big also.
This is a good mall serving people in the north.
still dunno what happened to the original kavins banana leaf restaurant.!!??
found out its now at causeway point!
Too bad the Northpoint basement food court is taken under the new Kopitiam liao and all the new stalls look almost the same as other kopitiam 's franchise ! If I would know that most of the previous stall holders would be part of "history", I would definately get their address ! ![]()
northpoint 目全liao
not nice to walk now
and super crowded
i'm afraid to step in there nowadays
There's more of an atas feel to this shopping centre leh.. the colour scheme of this building perhaps.
If all the former stalls moved to one place, they would have "shifted".
If each moved to various other locations, they would have "dispersed".
The Northpoint food court, is now under Kopitiam, and I believe some of the food stalls have dispersed, replaced by Kopitiam's SOP stalls.
The last time i went - about a month back, kopi tiam was still under renovation.. has it finally opened?

I heard that The Food Mall, which is the former food court in Northpoint basement was managed by the company Food-Link Services Pte Ltd. I had try to contact them about a few stall, like the "Japanese Cuisine" which sell the best and cheap Japanese rice bowl and other jap foods : http://sg.openrice.com/singapore/restaurant/japanese-cuisine-the-food-mall/4292 ,but too bad no news, their whereabout is a mystery now and this mark the end of one famous legacy...
