Toa Payoh food centre to undergo upgrading

SINGAPORE: The food centre at Block 75 Toa Payoh Lorong 5 will be upgraded under the National Environment Agency's (NEA) Hawker Centres Upgrading Programme (HUP).
Work will start on June 1.
The food centre will re-open with a fresh and modern look in January 2013.
The NEA said on Thursday that the upgraded food centre would offer a more pleasant and hygienic environment.
There will be more tables and seats, with the number of tables to increase from 58 to 112, while the number of seats will increase from 342 to 460.
Cooked food stalls will be equipped with new mechanical exhaust systems to improve ventilation.
Public toilet facilities will be upgraded and will have child-friendly features.
An extension canopy will also be installed to provide better shelter when it rains heavily.
The NEA, which manages 107 hawker centres, has upgraded 98 centres under the HUP.

all these yucky ..... MPs and all that who approved upgrading. Upgraded still wanna upgrade, like as if the cost of food going up not expensive enough. Upgraded still look presentable and fine still wanna upgrade, chin money face wor, damn the pigs greedy PAPigs. I am referring to other food centre.

Stallholders at Bedok Hawker Centre may not renew lease SINGAPORE: Upgrading works at Bedok Hawker Centre are forcing some stallholders to move out. The centre's management said many will not renew their lease when it ends. The hawker centre is a popular spot for residents in the area. It is undergoing upgrading works as part of the town's rejuvenation. A nearby car park will be pulled down in mid-July, to make way for a new hawker centre cum multi-storey car park. But some hawkers are worried that the closure will impact their business. The Housing Development Board has built a temporary car park to help minimise the disruption caused by on-going works. Customers can park at a temporary surface car park in front of Blk 23 or an existing MSCP at Blk 215A Bedok South Ave 1. Still, some hawkers said they've had to contend with massive upgrading projects over the past six months, and this has affected business. The new hawker centre is expected to be completed by May 2014. Chairman of the centre's Managing Committee, Teo Teck Ngee, said hawkers should consider the long-term benefits of upgrading projects. "Though it has impacted business, this is a transitional phase.
