Gross Food (but supposedly nice to eat)

  this is from a website of a parson somewhere in East Malaysia in Sarawak
  
  Eating Sago Worms!
  
  A pictorial presentation of the preparation of a perfect worm meal.
  
  
  First get a bunch of sago worms - they have to be alive and fresh (i.e. still crawling!). The ones you are looking at were collected at our farm.
  
  
  After washing the worms and marinating them with salt, fry them! Here you see Suze doing the honors.
  
  
  Fry the worms until they stop crawling and turn slightly brown and crispy. Then break each worm in half (if not they will pop!). Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "fry until crisp".
  
  
  The worms are coming along well... keep stirring. The aroma is heavenly. Peace to the world!
  
  
  Here they are, all crisp and crunchy, ready for the mouth and stomach (of those who can stomach these delicious worms!).
  
  
  Time for some heavenly snack - they taste real good . . . like cream in a crispy skin (with a slight peanut taste). Wanna have some?

  ahh.. the Western Culture influenced us more than we know...
  
  every culture except the western one ate things like insects and bugs as a good source of protein..

  just like stuff in the sea... prawns are the equivalent of cockroaches, sea cucumbers (sorry qq) are the equivalent of earthworms, crabs are the same as scorpions and spiders...

  i admit, i am a chicken when comes to food trying, not a risk taker.

  yup. think it's psychological... got friends who refuses to eat pregnant fish, fish roe etc.
  personally think i can take grasshoppers and scorpions (but haven't actually tried). but don't think can swallow maggots, earthworms, caterpillars and the likes...

  I dun mind eating weird stuff as long they are not raw, most importantly....i cant stand most things raw regardless gross or not...
