  Hi all,
  
  I'm going to have steamboat on my bithday.So i need some suggestion and idea of wat to buy.Like those standard thing must have in steamboat and oso anything which u guys wan to intro to me so tat we can try new things.

  Suree..of cos got airpork on the table man..i'm thinking of big prawns which make the soup sweet.I heard frm fren say..steamboat pour beer into the soup taste nicer wor..wahaha..

  for soup base, u can consider soya beans....or ikan bilis.....prawn heads oso can.....or chicken stock or beef stock.....

  - tofu (my fav n a must-have for steam boat)
  - cuttlefish;
  - cabbage( tian jin cai ?);
  - chicken meat ( boneless);
  - fresh mushrooms;
  - sliced pork ( preferably from ur local wet market )
  - fish balls,
  - meat balls;
  - baby carrots;
  - udon;
  - tua tao ( local mussles ) ;

  i remember there is one time my birthday had steamboat.
  and we cant finished the food and did not throw away the reminder food instead we played a game.

  lettuce (a must!)
  Cabbage
  mushrooms
  abalone mushrooms
  button mushrooms
  fish paste
  fish slices
  big prawns
  fishballs
  tau kee
  tofu
  Chicken meat
  Sliced Pork
  Bamboo shoots (zhu shun)
  Sliced Abalone
  Dong Fen (Tunghoon)
  Quail's Eggs!

  nice suggestion out there..hmm..i'm planning to make tom yam soup man..anyone got secret recipe or...ready made soup?whaha..care to share.I agak agak know wat to buy liao..

  isit? i've learn to appreciate tofu from my ex's family.
  jus open a box of tufu, sprinkle some fried shallots and some fresh spring onions

  what is pigeon eggs?
  i thot steamboat oni have quail's egg???

  If u wan e soup 2 b swt, boil e soup base 1st >>> Boil bak kut n beijing cabbage (bok choy) together. Den when rdy 4 steamboat, put some prawns in 2 cook, confirm ur soup swt! I love dis soup base... Yum yum~!!!
