Anyone knows the location for the beggars chicken in JB..? I went there once with friends at nite but could not recall the exact location..
We drove along the seaside after crossing causeway customs and it was near a Malaysian army camp. It's a Chinese Restaurant and the beggars chicken was prepared offsite somewhere and brought to the restaurant. -

After passing Crystal Crown Hotel traffic junction, the next traffic junction (on a slope), turn right, pass The Store supermart on your right, go straight all the way, follow the road which winds to the left, then turn right around over a large longkang. You will see Ah Koon fishball across the road. U are from JB..? Most of us S'poreans only know the way around via landmarks etc. and not the actual road names.
Problem with JB is that there are lots of small clusters of houses etc that look similar to one another and driving in JB at nite is rather confusing. Also, be careful of the local traffic cops who are out to make some "pocket money" from SG drivers....always have loose change like RM$10 handy. Tell them you're out of big notes (used up after shopping and makan)... -

Is the Kampong Pasir Puteh the "Orang Asli" village..? Yep, the "road", more like stony path is ideal for SUVs or 4-wheel drives...good car suspension testing..
If you go in the evenings, beware of mosquito swarms also active for fresh SG human blood.. -

I go to JB quite a lot of times. Last time I use to take taxi in JB, but since I have know their buses, nowadays I took bus in JB.
One note here, drive only at the main roads at night (after 7pm). Avoid the following roads at all costs:
Jalan Tampoi (near Plaza Angsana and the whole stretch ... no road lamp and the stretch between Bandar Baru Uda and Jalan Kempas, no road lamp and build halfway... a lot of small stones on the road) Jalan Abad (somewhere near Century Garden, a bit of road lamps but super steep slope) Taman Johor Jaya (Jalan Johor Jaya and Jalan Dedap (near the Golf Driving Range especially because my dad got a minor accident there) Jalan Masai Baru (the junction in front of Carrefour until Makro) no street lamps at certain stretch Tebrau Highway (after Carrefour and at the junction of Pasir Gudang Highway) due to the roadworks of building a flyover, there has been jams and more heavy jams in the peak hours. Drivers driving to Kota Tinggi, Ulu Tiram, Desaru, Mersing and east coast must aware of it the road in front of Plentong Giant (interchange of Pasir Gudang Highway, similar as the junction of AMK Ave 1 and CTE) but their's is one junction got traffic light and the other one no traffic light, beware. After 7pm total darkness -

Opposite Crystal Crown is Sri Tebrau.... but the Ah Koon is way down at the Store and Ocean Supermarket which is called Taman Sentosa aka Ta Ma Hua Yuan.
Tebrau is called Ta Fong Hua Yuan..... remember one is "big horse" and another is "big wind" hahaha....
If just noodles with the standard fishball and soup it will just cosr RM$4 ~S1.76 at Ah Koon. -

I think you got the names of the places wrongly.
The Store and Ocean supermarket is located in a shopping centre called "Kompleks Lien Hoe" or Lian He Guang Chang in Chinese.
Ta Ma Hua Yuan = Taman Seri Tebrau or Big Horse Garden*...haha
Ta Feng Hua Yuan = Taman Sentosa or Big Wind Garden*.. haha
Cai Hong Hua Yuan = Taman Pelangi or Rainbow Garden*..
Soon Li Hua Yuan = Taman Maju Jaya
*The English names does not exists in Johor Bahru... -

Recently, one Singaporean man driving a Singapore registered car got the car windows smashed and robbed in Taman Seri Tebrau or rather Ta Ma Hua Yuan. Please be cautious on your car if you are driving there.

What time of the day/night did that happen? Heard also that the Giant Hypermart's basement carpark isn't that safe at night. -
There's a damn shiok wanton noodle stall very near to the Giant Hypermart at Jln Sermapam (spell?). It's at a corner coffee shop. The noodles is supposed to be hand-made. Only problem is the char-siew is damn thin...
PJ, perhaps you will know the exact location and provide the directions to go there. I only know how to go there by sight...The stall is run by a middle-age couple... -

I think should be Jalan Serampang ( turn right at traffic light after Plaza Pelangi, if you are travelling from town )
I don't know exact location of the stall. Most likely I think you should be talking about the coffeeshop at the junction of Jalan Serampang and Jalan Kuning ( Taman Pelangi ).
