SINGAPORE: Three third-year students of Singapore Polytechnic (SP) have designed a portable automated toilet seat to help the elderly and mild stroke patients stand up with little effort.
The Adjustable Toilet Seat is for those who have difficulty standing up after using the toilet.
It has a wireless
push button which raises an electrical jack to tilt the seat up to 35
degrees - enough to help the user stand up with minimal strength.
A limit switch is activated, cutting off the electrical supply to the jack.
A timer kicks in for 30 seconds.
After that, the jack retracts to its collapsed position.
The seat can support up to 200 kilograms.
With the automated toilet seat, users won't always need a nurse or walking frames to help them up from the toilet seat.
The students worked on the project with St Andrew's Community Hospital, as part of SP Care Projects.
The
seat is one of 14 student-developed projects that'll be donated to
hospitals and homes, such as St Andrew's Community Hospital, St Luke's
Hospital, All Saints Home, Bishan Home, Assisi Hospice and HCA Hospice
Care.

nope, the prototype is always going to be many times more expensive than the actual product, then only it can be made cheap because price depends on the demand, it's cheaper to mass produce a product than the same product, but only 1 piece.
