COE prices up sharply, breach S$90k again

Certificate of entitlement (COE) prices rose across the board in the bidding exercise on Wednesday from the previous round two weeks ago.

The premium for cars 1600cc and below closed at $68,656, a sharp increase of $9,235 from $59,421 in the previous bidding on 4 July.

Cars above 1600cc registered the second highest increase in premiums of this exercise to $90,501, a difference of $8,212 from the previous $82,289.

The COE price for commercial vehicles rose slightly to $55,805 from the previous premium of $55,556.

In the open category, the COE price rose $5,701 to $92,700 as compared to $86,999 previously.

The COE price for motorcycles also went up to $1,859 from $1,760 previously.

The COE price for the over 1600cc category last breached the S$90k mark in early May, hitting a record high of S$92,050.

The open category's previous highest COE price was in April, when it reached S$92,010.

COE prices for cars sharply higher

SINGAPORE - Certificate of Entitlement (COE) prices for vehicles were higher across the board in the latest bidding exercise today.

The biggest rise in COE prices was in the small cars category, which rose S$9,235 to S$68,656.

The COE price for the big cars category rose S$8,212 to S$90,501.

In the Open Category, which is used mainly for big cars, COE price increased S$5,701 to S$92,700.

The COE prices for both commercial vehicles and motorcycles also moved up. The premium for commercial vehicles went up S$249 to S$55,805 while the premium for motorcycles increased S$99 to S$1,859. CHANNEL NEWSASIA

SINGAPORE: Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums rose across the board at the end of the latest bidding exercise on Wednesday.

The sharpest increase was in Category A (cars 1,600cc and below and taxis). Here, the premium rose 15.5 per cent or S$9,235 to S$68,656.

This was followed by Category B (cars above 1,600cc), where the premium rose nearly 10 per cent or S$8,212 to S$90,501.

In the Open Category, where the COEs can be used for any vehicle type but which are used mostly for cars, the premium rose nearly 7 per cent or S$5,701 to hit S$92,700.

The COE prices for both commercial vehicles and motorcycles also moved up. The premium for commercial vehicles went up S$249 to S$55,805 while the premium for motorcycles increased S$99 to S$1,859.

This latest round of bidding will be the final exercise before the new quota numbers for the next six months (August to January 2013) take effect.

The Land Transport Authority announced on July 12 that there will be 3,226 COEs available per month in the next six months, which are 12.7 per cent fewer than the number for the last six months.

That one recorded is for Open Category .. if i can recalled.

If $110,000 for Cat A.... all taxis companies will be stucked.

Taxi companies may be FORCED not to expand their fleet.....

which is a good thing to TD brothers.... lesser competition.

Many older cars (vehicles) have to be de-registered as the prevailing COE to extend their vehicles with another 10yrs COE is getting too expensive.

Hopefully SOLUTION helps... if not, everyone will be giving a finger at the authority.

I got mine Cat C, last July 2011 at $29,000. but I only got my vehicle on 2 Sept 2011.

who cares about the value if we are not selling.

One must first ask why pay $29,000 for a piece of paper that you have never and will probably never see.

$29,000 can buy 10,000 plates of $2.90 cai png.

If you eat cai png for 3 meals everyday, that money could feed you for 3333 days which is roughly equilvalent to 9 years.

Invest some Money makes More Money.....

better than driving a taxi... paying for a taxi daily rental @$160 a day can pay for a vehicle FULLY (Mercedes Viano) in 2.5 years time.

In Singapore, as long we are paying money to the govt... you will be fine.
