QUOTE
"City Harvest Church members who want to give money to help offset the legal and court fees of their founder Kong Hee may now do so in their own capacity. Mr Aries Zulkarnain, the church’s executive pastor, has given his consent to this.
The Straits Times reported that during the meeting, the executive members of the board indicated their support for their leaders. Three members suggested that the board should ask the Commissioner of Charity to allow the church to use its funds to pay for the lawyer and court fees for the six people embroiled in the court case. They also said that if their request is rejected, they will raise money through the members.
Mr Zulkarnian responded by saying that while the church cannot use its funds to help the six, individual members are free to raise money for them as long as they adhere to the relevant laws and regulations."

Pastor Aries supporting raising money for Kong Hee's defence is really thick skinned!!!
Kong Hee is on trial, not CHC. Pastor Aries allowing to raise members funds is completely voluntary.
So far, KH's legal fees have been paid by insurance. In the event he is guilty, he will have to pay back the insurance company. But for the members, guilty or not guilty, their money is gone!!!
Insurance won't pay once it's maxed out. These members will probably give as much as they are asked.
This is a very interesting Pastor and board indeed.

Pastor Kong has done so many good things for society, for the youth, disabled, elderly, ... in and out of Singapore. Pastor Kong has touched and changed the lives of so many people. Pastor Kong deserve all the abundance that the Lord provided to him. Pastor Kong deserves to live in Sentosa. He deserves to live well as he had to face a lot of hardship in doing the Lord's work.
If in the process, Pastor Kong did not follow any secular laws, we know he will receive secular punishment. Christians have been persecuted since the start of the church. This still does not make him guilty in our view.
Outsiders do not know this, but we have known from the start that Pastor Sun's music was going to be used to bring people to Christ. As a result, 150,000 people have found Jesus, including Jay Chou.
God bless!!
You are seditious.
You're a lying swine. If he openly declared he was buying Sentosa, your church would have zero members. At most one.

Maybe she cashed out her belief a long time ago, but due to her pride keeps barking here. She is not defending the church, but herself.

Also interesting is the disclaimer from the Christian Post
The CP report (http://sg.christianpost.com/dbase/church/2818/section/1.htm) did not suggest in any way, nor was it intended to mean, that the FOP cancellation showed support from the Christian community for City Harvest Church. Rather, the CP report highlighted the extensive support from the Reverend Kong Hee and City Harvest for FOP. This was clearly acknowledged by the Revd. Canon Dr. James Wong, Founder and President of the event, in his announcement of its cancellation, that was reported in The CP report.

Here ground no silver 300 tales...
Kong Hee will return la, there's no reason not to. Even if he's convicted he will still appear as a victim to his followers and the hardcore will rally around him even more.
Now's the time to make money, so he needs to go pay back Pringle and Co for preaching here, by accepting invitations and speaking assignments (at top dollar) in various countries.
Now will he be found guilty of the 3 charges?
I think that's not his main concern now, the main thing is to find which of the other 5 idiots will take the rap for him.
If 1 or more of them will raise their hands and say yes, we did all these but never told Kong hee or he never gave permission, we did this as part for the Crossover like obedient and willing sheep, then Kong hee may well be having the last laugh.
His only worry, is that 1 or 2 get cold feet and on their lawyer's advise plead guilty for a lighter sentence and admit in the statement of facts that Kong hee was instrumental in the whole process.
Of course the 3rd possibilty is that all 6 fight the charges and pin the blame of each other, resulting in all 6 getting convicted of 1 or more charges.
So Kong hee has done superbly well to come from small time to the big league and the big bucks, converting and conning many sheep. Now he has to do it 1 more time - can he succeed?
Yep - Kong Hee will return - no matter what. The longer hee will be in jail, the more hardship, the more support...
The Commissioner of Charities (COC) has issued a Restriction Order to the Board of City Harvest Church (CHC) to restrict CHC from paying the legal fees of its disgraced pastor Kong Hee and five other accused persons and entering into transactions relating to payment of services to the suspended individuals and their related entities, without the approval of the COC.
The COC has informed CHC that the church and/or its employees should not be involved in raising funds for the legal expenses or setting up a specific fund for this purpose.
Earlier reports by the state media claimed that several members of City Harvest Church (CHC) are privately raising funds to help pay for the legal fees of Kong Hee as well as five other leaders who were charged for misusing up to $50 million dollars of the church’s funds to further the music career of his wife Ho Yeow Sun.
The unofficial fundraising campaign was reportedly started by an executive member named Dawn Lee who mobilized individuals who wanted to offer Kong and others financial support during CHC’s AGM three weeks ago.
She then suggested that interested members meet her after the meeting before distributing her contact details.
Executive pastor Aries Zulkarnain had earlier rejected four proposals from other members suggesting the use of church funds to bankroll the six charged leaders’ legal fees.
Despite the gravity of the criminal charges slapped on him, Kong Hee remains defiant and maintains his ‘integrity’.
In his latest posting on Facebook, Kong Hee wrote:

Here is the Strait Times version...
City Harvest Church has been warned by the Commissioner of Charities (COC) about its employees' efforts to raise funds to pay the legal fees of its leaders facing criminal charges in court.
At issue is a donation form which surfaced this month seeking funds as a "personal gift" to the six people charged so far.
Dated Aug 6, the form states that the donations would be deposited into the bank accounts of two City Harvest Church pastors.
In response to The Straits Times' queries, COC said that it had informed the church that neither it nor its employees may be involved in raising funds for the legal expenses for the accused.
The commissioner also said that it had earlier issued a restriction order to the church's board to stop them from using church funds for the same reason.
City Harvest Church, however, said that the donation form - which had been circulated as recently as last week - was no longer being used.
It said the pastors involved have relinquished their roles in the effort, and added that the church was unaware of any new fund-raising efforts that are currently taking place.
Employees from the church have mounted fund-raising efforts ever since their church leaders were charged in June this year.
New King James Version (NKJV)
26 As snow in summer and rain in harvest,
So honor is not fitting for a fool.
2 Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow,
So a curse without cause shall not alight.
3 A whip for the horse,
A bridle for the donkey,
And a rod for the fool’s back.
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest you also be like him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest he be wise in his own eyes.
6 He who sends a message by the hand of a fool
Cuts off his own feet and drinks violence.
7 Like the legs of the lame that hang limp
Is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
8 Like one who binds a stone in a sling
Is he who gives honor to a fool.
9 Like a thorn that goes into the hand of a drunkard
Is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
10 The great God who formed everything
Gives the fool his hire and the transgressor his wages.[a]
11 As a dog returns to his own vomit,
So a fool repeats his folly.
12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
13 The lazy man says, “There is a lion in the road!
A fierce lion is in the streets!”
14 As a door turns on its hinges,
So does the lazy man on his bed.
15 The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl;[b]
It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.
16 The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes
Than seven men who can answer sensibly.
17 He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own
Is like one who takes a dog by the ears.
18 Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death,
19 Is the man who deceives his neighbor,
And says, “I was only joking!”
20 Where there is no wood, the fire goes out;
And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases.
21 As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire,
So is a contentious man to kindle strife.
22 The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,
And they go down into the inmost body.
23 Fervent lips with a wicked heart
Are like earthenware covered with silver dross.
24 He who hates, disguises it with his lips,
And lays up deceit within himself;
25 When he speaks kindly, do not believe him,
For there are seven abominations in his heart;
26 Though his hatred is covered by deceit,
His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly.
27 Whoever digs a pit will fall into it,
And he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him.
28 A lying tongue hates those who are crushed by it,
And a flattering mouth works ruin.
New King James Version (NKJV)
1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:
2 To know wisdom and instruction,
To perceive the words of understanding,
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom,
Justice, judgment, and equity;
4 To give prudence to the simple,
To the young man knowledge and discretion—
5 A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
6 To understand a proverb and an enigma,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 My son, hear the instruction of your father,
And do not forsake the law of your mother;
9 For they will be a graceful ornament on your head,
And chains about your neck.
10 My son, if sinners entice you,
Do not consent.
11 If they say, “Come with us,
Let us lie in wait to shed blood;
Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;
12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol,[a]
And whole, like those who go down to the Pit;
13 We shall find all kinds of precious possessions,
We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 Cast in your lot among us,
Let us all have one purse”—
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them,
Keep your foot from their path;
16 For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely, in vain the net is spread
In the sight of any bird;
18 But they lie in wait for their own blood,
They lurk secretly for their own lives.
19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain;
It takes away the life of its owners.
20 Wisdom calls aloud outside;
She raises her voice in the open squares.
21 She cries out in the chief concourses,[b]
At the openings of the gates in the city
She speaks her words:
22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity?
For scorners delight in their scorning,
And fools hate knowledge.
23 Turn at my rebuke;
Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.
24 Because I have called and you refused,
I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,
25 Because you disdained all my counsel,
And would have none of my rebuke,
26 I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your terror comes,
27 When your terror comes like a storm,
And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.
28 “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
29 Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the Lord,
30 They would have none of my counsel
And despised my every rebuke.
31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,
And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
Accused in City Harvest case allowed to travel
ANOTHER accused involved in the City Harvest case has been allowed to travel out of Singapore.
Chew Eng Han, an investment manager and senior member of the church, was granted permission yesterday. His bail was doubled to $1 million. He said outside the court that life goes on and he has "every reason" to be upbeat," reported Channel NewsAsia.
Chew, one of the six church members accused of helping to transfer $24 million to finance fellow member Ho Yeow Sun's music career, said he plans to travel several times. Church founder and Ho's husband Kong Hee was given permission to travel in July. The case, arguably the charity sector's largest financial scandal, will be heard again on Oct 4.

3rd man in City Harvest case allowed to travel
By BRYNA SIM
and JENNANI DURAI
A THIRD man in the City Harvest Church saga has successfully applied to travel overseas.
Deputy pastor Tan Ye Peng (above), who is among six senior members of the church charged with criminal breach of trust and falsifying accounts, will go on a four-day mission trip to Indonesia this month.
The 39-year-old is the third defendant to have sought approval for overseas travel after Chiew Eng Han, the church's investment manager, and founding pastor Kong Hee.
Tan's bail amount has been doubled to $1 million, silmilar to what Chew and Kong had to put up.
Chew, 52, had said at the end of August that he was going overseas for personal reasons, while Kong, 47, whose application to travel was granted in July, is believed to have flown to the United States and Taiwan for church events.
Tan was the only one of the six accused to show up in court yesterday for the second pre-trial conference, where lawyers exchange information or evidence with the prosecution.
Looking relaxed, he told The Straits Times that he has been carrying on with church work and his family has been supportive. He is married with four children.
"I'm continuing my pastoral duties, and will be doing some teaching in our affiliated churches overseas," he said.
The case centres on the six senior church figures allegedly funnelling $24 million in church building funds to sham bond investments.
This was apparently to conceal the diversion of money to finance the career of Kong's wife, singer Ho Yeow Sun, 42.
The six also allegedly conspired to use another $26.6 million of church funds to repay the sums owned. The transactions reportedly occurred between August 2007 and November 2009.
Kong and former church management board member John Lam Leng Hung, 44, each face three charges of breach of trust.
Tan, church finance manager Sharon Tan, 36, former finance manager Serina Wee, 35, and Chew face between seven and 10 charges of criminal breach of trust and falsifying accounts.
All six, whose passwords were impounded, have indicated that they are likely to plead not guilty and will claim trial.
The next pre-trial conference, believed to be the last meeting before the case goes to trial, has been scheduled for Nov 22.
